   ROARING FORK CONSERVANCY
Snowpack & River Report

April Snowpack Reports are supported
by K&W Concrete, Inc.

Summary:

Early April is typically when we reach peak snowpack. The combination of precipitation from earlier this week and cooler temperatures are helping maintain our snowpack, which is currently 105% of normal for this time of the year. Together with snowpack and stream flow data, scientists and engineers can provide better insights on spring runoff and summer water supply. Currently, snowpack in the Upper Colorado River Basin (everything upstream of Lake Powell) is 87% of normal for this time of the year. As we move into the warmer months, impacts from below average precipitation and dry soils will be felt locally and downstream, where the inflow at Lake Powell is forecast to be 64% of normal. Before runoff officially begins, help us spring clean our watershed by volunteering for the 24th Annual Fryingpan & Beyond River Cleanup.
