DRAW’s response to Hurricane Helene
This evening, Hurricane Helene is projected to hit Florida’s Gulf coast as a Category 3 Hurricane, the largest hurricane our country has seen in more than two years. The majority of the coast is expecting storm surges up to 20’ and sustained winds in the 130 mph range. In short, tonight is likely to be one of scariest days in the lives of millions of people living in the Southeast U.S.
DRAW’s team has been monitoring Helene’s path and impact for more than a week now, and we’ve made preemptive contact with 8 different communities along the Gulf Coast. Tomorrow morning, our operations team will pack and send the first load of response supplies out of our HQ, and those supplies will be distributed to hurricane victims in need before the weekend is over.
From there, DRAW will continue to be in contact with communities in need, and we’re ready to funnel continued support to those in Helene’s path.
These communities will need your help, and there are multiple ways to be a part of DRAW’s effort in the coming days
With hundreds of thousands of people already evacuated, please keep the communities in the Southeast U.S. in your prayers. And may our efforts after the storm, bring the hope they will need at a dark time.
