As summer winds down, our dedicated team has been hard at work preparing an exciting season of opportunities for Montgomery County's nonprofit community.
For more than a decade, Nonprofit Montgomery has offered trusted programs that help nonprofit organizations connect, learn, and grow to improve their operational well-being. While that foundation remains strong, the needs of our sector continue to evolve, and so do we.
This fall, you will see both familiar favorites and new opportunities designed to meet today's challenges. We are reimagining parts of our longtime FIRM financial management program to better support nonprofit professionals with every step of their financial strategies and goals. We also look forward to continuing to offer the networking, advocacy, and professional development that our members value.
You will also find new programming this year focused on timely issues like cybersecurity, helping organizations strengthen their operations and build resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment.
As always, our programs are shaped by you. We listen, adapt, and continue working to provide the resources, connections, and advocacy our nonprofit community needs to thrive.

Keeping up with technology and cybersecurity can feel overwhelming, especially when it is required for government contracts or funding. To help, Nonprofit Montgomery is partnering with local nonprofit Hacking for Good to launch a practical, multi-part series on essential cybersecurity knowledge.

Kick off the series with our first lunch-and-learn workshop on September 29: Stop Being an Easy Target | Password and Authentication Policy. You will learn how to write and enforce simple, effective policies to protect your team against phishing and password theft. Come ready to make your organization a much harder target.
How do you keep your organization's strategy and decisions true to its core values—especially during times of crisis and uncertainty?
As the first installment in our refreshed financial strategy series, this session addresses a common challenge: aligning board members and staff. We will introduce The Integrity Profile, a practical tool designed to help your team define shared criteria for critical decisions and strategy. You will learn how to capture these ideas in a clear, accessible resource that everyone can use—blending outcomes, strategy, and culture into one cohesive guide.

The National Council of Nonprofits (NCN) released a new report, Opportunity for Reform: Strengthening the Nonprofit Sector's Ability to Deliver Essential Services Through Grants and Contracts. The report outlines a comprehensive package of state policy reforms to modernize government grants and contracts.

The Montgomery County Maryland Bar Foundation Pro Bono Program Legal Clinic is based on a free walk-in/no appointment model. Clients request brief and limited guidance about a specific legal issue and attorneys provide information and basic legal advice without any expectation of long-term representation. FY27 Healthy Communities Fund (HCF) Grants Program:(Program will be launched on Thursday, July 23rd 2026) The Asian American Health Initiative, part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Office of Grants Management (OGM) are soliciting grant applications for the County’s FY2027 Healthy Communities Fund Grants Program from qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. This grant program seeks qualified service providers to administer culturally and linguistically appropriate programs and services that improve the health and wellness of Montgomery County residents with a particular focus on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. If submitting a funding request above $50,000, applicants are encouraged to collaborate with other community organizations to ensure a coordinated, community-driven approach that maximizes resources.
FY26 Fair Housing Testing Services Grant Program — CDBG-Funded:(Anticipated launch July 2026) The goal of this grant program is to solicit applications from eligible nonprofits or civil rights organizations with expertise in fair housing testing. $20,000 in total grant funding will be made available for awarded grantees to identify and analyze evidence of housing discrimination discovered through its fair housing testing in the County.
The Montgomery CountyGrant Opportunities Newsletter provides grant seeking stakeholders with a concrete schedule of new, currently open, and soon to be launched grant programs as well as status updates for closed grant programs. The newsletter also highlights the Office of Grants Management (OGM) events, non-County grant opportunities, and other events/news items of interest to grant seeking stakeholders. Past Newsletters can be found on OGM's About Us website.
