Welcome!

Firstly, if you're new to Spark, welcome! If this is the first time you're hearing from us, then recently, you've helped us, or we've helped you somehow. That's how it works: we help each other.

Something New from Spark

This is our first Spark Weekly Update. If you've already been a friend of Spark, you know we typically send out a monthly newsletter with news about us, events, and ideas we want to share. Sometimes, however, there are things, particularly events, that are timely, and we want to let you know about them right away.

Spark Needs Your Help!

It's simply a fact: Spark wants desperately to continue supporting our community with mobility equipment, technology, and services for people with disabilities, seniors, kids, and basically anyone who needs our help.

  1. Demand Is Up
    • Fact: More people are aware of Spark than ever. More people are contacting us with needs for wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, hospital beds, computers, etc., and services.
  2. Funding Is Down
    • Fact: Spark receives no federal funding. We rely entirely on grants and donations. Of course, we love gifts of mobility equipment and tech items, but without adequate funding, we can't continue to provide those items and associated services, let alone a building from which to provide them.

So, you see our predicament: increased demand is a "good problem to have." Decreased ability to meet that demand is a bad problem - a big problem. Please help us today and help Spark help others

Recycling News at Spark

As we've mentioned before, you can bring assorted electronic items to Spark for recycling. Such items include but are not necessarily limited to such things as computers, household appliances, and telephones. Please call Spark if you have other items that you're not sure about.

A new recycling effort, however, is Spark's recent partnership with Knoxville's Fourth & Glass recycling company. This enterprise converts recycled glass into tiles and decor, landscaping, sandblasting, road construction and more. So, why not bring your discarded glass to Spark and help us keep it out of the landfill and turn it into something useful and/or beautiful?
