Summer 2024 College Internship Program – seeking companies to host interns! The SoMD 2030 Summer 2024 college internship program will be June 10-August 2, 2024. This 8-week program provides an opportunity for rising sophomore, junior and senior college students to work 30 hours/week at companies located in the Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties. Funding for the interns is provided by SoMD 2030 initiative. **Deadline for companies to complete their profile is Friday, November 3. Student portal opens Nov 6th, deadline to apply and submit all requested materials is Friday, December 8.

Save the date! The 2nd annual Spark! Student Career Awareness Fair will be Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the USMSM SMART Building. The inaugural fair featured 26 organizations that provided hands-on demos and interactive booths to 440 high school students from the tri-county area. Seeking companies to participate. Must have an interactive component for your display! Sign up your company or organization to participate in this event with this Google form. Deadline to sign up is Friday, December 8.

The NAVAIR North Stars BAA is posted on Sam.gov. This is the BAA that was referenced at the NAVAIR ICE event. The Government is interested in receiving white papers for research and development, which may include but is not limited to, rapid prototyping, demonstration, and experimentation projects that offer potential for advancements and improvements in Integrated Warfighting Capability across the Naval Aviation Mission Areas supporting Naval Operations and as applicable to Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and subordinate Commands. High school seniors from public, private, or home schools in St. Mary’s County can enter original art pieces in the contest held in coordination with the biennial Maryland Emancipation Day ceremony, at the Old Jail Museum in Leonardtown. This special celebration of equity and justice will feature the unveiling of brass “stopping stones” to commemorate five local freedom seekers who risked their lives attempting to escape bondage in St. Mary’s County in the 1800s. - Volunteers Needed! F-14 Tomcat cockpit Flight Simulator Program has a new Train-the-Trainer program for volunteers to join the Simulator Team. The Operators earn an operational certification for the WWII P-51 Mustang aircraft and the multifunction F/A-18 Hornet aircraft to teach museum customers how to fly an airplane.
