Dear Friends,

Why are our services important?  For the past several weeks I've been talking to you about the services and programs we offer but what about the 'why'?

I saw a Mayfield Heights city employee over the weekend and in the conversation she mentioned that she is currently helping her mom.  She said, "Services that CPA offers are so important!  Figuring these things out for my mom is a lot, but what about those who don't have children?"

That's really the tip of the iceberg, though.  Services and programs that CPA provides are considered essential (we remained open the duration of COVID lockdowns!).  Isn't exercise essential?  Certainly food is, and transportation is.

What about maintaining one's independence?  I think that ranks pretty high on the list.

What about being able to take care of your home, and to live safely in your home?

Life expectancy in 1946 was around 64 years; today it's around 77 years. The changes that aging brings about are inevitable, but they certainly don't mean you can't age with dignity.  CPA's Mission statement:  "Improving the lives of older adults through programs and services that support independence, community involvement and well-being" perfectly describes the 'why'!

Until next time,

Therese
