Our Second Star program was created with the support of Sixth Street, and we were so sad to learn they would be closing their doors. Sixth Street has been such an important part of caring for young adults experiencing homelessness in our community, and we are incredibly thankful for the support, compassion, hard work, and hope they have provided to so many young people.

I have had the privilege of working with young adults in this program and seeing their strength, determination, and growth. This is a group that can easily fall through the cracks. Many have aged out of youth services but are not quite ready for traditional adult programs. Some are learning things many of us take for granted, like getting a driver’s license, opening a bank account, or building a support system they can count on.

At CHAT, we are committed to continuing this work and making sure these young adults still have someone walking alongside them. We are expanding our support to help them build skills, gain stability, and work toward permanent housing.

As we have reached the midpoint of the year, we want to share some updates on what we have accomplished so far at CHAT. Please read on for more details about our work and the impact we’ve made together. We are so proud of the work we do in Chico and so grateful to be able to serve our region.
