We Gather
Humanist Canada members met in Ottawa earlier this summer at the Brasserie Metropolitain. Over thirty members gathered, along with our guests Wendy Sewell, Assistance Defence Attaché from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Military Humanist Chaplain Col Erwin Kamp, also of Holland. There was plenty of laughter, connection, and an acknowledgement of the sixtieth anniversary of the military humanist chaplaincy in the Netherlands.
Join us so we can properly welcome you to Humanist Canada! We will take you through all the benefits of membership and answer your questions. This event is also open to those considering membership. If you are also interested in becoming an officiant we will also discuss that option.

Please join Steve Ghikadis, our Chapter Ambassador, and Bettianne Hedges, our Executive Director, on September 11that 7pm EST as we answer all of your questions about starting a Chapter. This is your opportunity to network with other members who hope to do the same and learn how Humanist Canada can support your initiative. We’ll discuss ways to begin, how to get the word out and suggest activities - bring your ideas and questions. Those who have already started a chapter are also welcome to join us.

Sarah Wilkins-Laflame is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo in Ontario and one of the founders of the Institute for Religion, Culture and Societal Futures. The Institute is Canada’s hub for social scientific and empirical research related to religion, spirituality, and emerging forms of communities of belief and practice. Dr. Wilkins-Laflamme will be interviewed by Humanist Canada member, Daniel Dacombe. The three episodes will be released throughout September.
