Waterway Stewards - Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is announcing their new Waterway Steward Program, developed with funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Coastal Resources Management program. The program’s purpose is to engage Pennsylvanians in community science and build long-term stewardship of our water trails. If you are at least 18 years old, a water trail user, angler or outdoor and waterway enthusiast and care about the health and safety of Pennsylvania’s waterways, become a steward today! Young Ambassadors – Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), invites Pennsylvania rising 10th -12th grade students to help keep Pennsylvania clean and beautiful through the Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania program. The program was recommended in the commonwealth’s litter action plan, announced by Governor Wolf, in November 2021. Applications open in August. Find out more here. 

Cigarette Litter Prevention Program - Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is partnering with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to implement the Cigarette Litter Prevention Program (CLPP) at up to 14 state welcome centers. A grant of $20,000 for the program was awarded to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful from the national organization, Keep America Beautiful. Previously, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful implemented the program in 41 state parks, reporting a combined reduction rate of cigarette litter of 64 percent.

Healing the Planet Grants - Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, in partnership with The GIANT Company, awarded 45 Healing the Planet grants. $300,000 in funding was awarded in support of projects aimed at improving the health and quality of waterways to help protect water resources and improve the overall health of communities.
