Let's do beautiful things together this spring!

The Greatest Virginia Greenup is a statewide call to action to beautify the Commonwealth from the first day of spring (March 20) to the first day of summer (June 20) each year.  Virginia communities come together to clean, plant, restore, and strengthen public spaces.

This year, we are excited to launch a first-of-its-kind statewide platform, The KVB Network, as part of the Greatest Virginia Greenup. This free, mobile-friendly platform makes it easier than ever for Virginians to organize cleanups, report their impact, and earn recognition for keeping our Commonwealth beautiful.  For the first time, every litter cleanup across the state — whether led by a scout troop, a corporate team, a state agency, adopt-a-highway volunteers, civic groups, schools, or a single dedicated neighbor — can be tracked, measured, and celebrated in one place.

The platform allows organizers to register cleanup events and determine if they want to make them "public" for volunteers to find and join efforts in their community. After each cleanup, organizers submit a simple report capturing the number of trash bags, recycling bags, and cigarette butts collected, along with photos of the event. The KVB Network automatically calculates weight estimates, tracks volunteer hours, and rolls everything up into a live statewide leaderboard — giving every participant real-time visibility into Virginia’s collective positive impact.

Volunteers earn milestone badges as they progress from Cleanup Contributor to Commonwealth Guardian, and top performers compete for prizes across categories like Most Cleanups, Most Bags of Litter Collected, and Most Volunteers.  Prizes will include our popular Sustainability Sampler Kits.

Beyond litter cleanups, the platform also tracks other environmental activities — tree plantings, community beautification, environmental fairs and education, recycling events, and more — painting a complete picture of stewardship happening across Virginia.

Organizers of both litter cleanups and other environmental activities can request up to 50 native Virginia wildflower seed packets to support their events when they register them on the platform.  It's our way of saying thanks for getting out and doing beautiful things this spring!

While the Greatest Virginia Greenup is a Virginia event, you can take your efforts to the next level and also pledge to be part of Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American CleanupThis is an ambitious campaign to pick up 25 billion pieces of litter and beautify 25,000 communities between now and America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026 Learn more and sign the pledge today!

As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the KVB Network will build the most visible cleanup record in Virginia’s history, proving that when individuals and communities come together, small acts add up to something extraordinary.
