Dear Participants,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your participation in our Monday evening classes exploring Ira Eisenstein's Creative Judaism and What We Mean by Religion.

Thanks also to our two wonderful teachers Rabbi Lee Friedlander and Harriet Feiner.

Having bestowed upon you the degree of LIFE LONG STUDENTS OF THE TORAH OF MORDECAI KAPAN AND IRA EISENSTEIN (please contact our registrar Sheridan Zuther for an official diploma), I am glad to provide a few resources for your continued evolution in that domain.

Full Access to all the dialogue from the class.

Second, an invitation to our February 11th webinar.

Thirdly, after the Torah comes the Talmud if we view Judaism as an "evolving" religious civilization. I hope you will find something interesting in our Talmud of applied Kaplan/Eisenstein to 21st century issues. Here is a link to those issues.

Given our discussions of the past month you might find this particular Talmud page about prayer and changing prayers particularly provocative.

Finally, emerging any number of times during the class was interest in the intergenerational dimensions of Jewish life today and how our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren understand what constitutes a meaningful Jewish life.

When I end my three years of serving as the Executive Director of the Kaplan Center in July of this year I will return to a book I am writing called L'dor V'dor in a Digital Age. I will be putting together several intergenerational panels to explore some of the same issues raised in your class.

Please be in touch with me (Jeffrey@KaplanCenter.org) if you are interested in being part of one of these panels.

Dr. Jeffrey Schein
Executive Director, The Mordecai Kaplan Center for Jewish Peoplehood
