Running Free August 2025
From the Bridge
Happy Summer! It's been an incredible season so far, and our organization has been busy on several exciting fronts.
First, we were very pleased to announce our new partnership with the Women Offshore Foundation last week. This collaboration represents something we've been working toward for quite some time – developing comprehensive support systems for women in maritime careers. Together, we'll be co-creating a tall ship-centered mentorship program, facilitating virtual discussion groups, and expanding access to professional development resources. What makes this initiative particularly exciting is that it's been designed with a framework that can be expanded to benefit all members of the tall ships community. This partnership reflects our commitment to making the maritime world more inclusive and supportive for everyone who shares our passion for life under sail.
We are also proud to introduce new requirements for ships hosting our scholarship recipients. These requirements aren't meant to be a barrier, but rather a way to highlight that sailor safety is a priority for our organization and others in our community. We believe that when we send people to sea through our scholarship programs, we want them to have the best possible, and safest, experience. We're working hard to provide more free resources to our members in the coming weeks to help support these safety initiatives.
In that same spirit of supporting our community, we've been working diligently to add tons of great benefits for both our individual and organizational members. A few examples include:
A $500 credit with KVH when you purchase a Starlink Terminal and activate a KVH Starlink Mobile Priority Plan
Free MM-SEAS PRO accounts for 1,000 Tall Ships America members
20% off TAHE Outdoors products (including Stand up Paddleboard, Kayaks, etc) excluding promotional items and shipping)
Up to 80% off training through Practical Navigator
15% off select specialty-grade coffee from Skipper's Remedy™ (Warning: it's delicious and addictive!)
And if you didn't see the announcement, we've launched the schedule for Community Musters this fall! These gatherings have become such an important part of how we connect as a community, sharing knowledge, stories, and that unmistakable camaraderie that comes from those who understand the call of the sea. Registration will be opening shortly, and I hope you'll plan on joining us. There's nothing quite like meeting face-to-face with fellow members – we'd love to connect with you in person.
As always, thank you for being part of this incredible community. Your membership and participation make everything we do possible.
Fair winds, Stu

Update on the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Summer Series
It's hard to believe we are halfway through the summer and have a handful of ports to go! The vibes, as they say, have been immaculate. Great crowds, happy crew, and the ships are looking so good.😍
Stu and Erin were most recently at Festival of Sail Duluth. It was the first time the ships have been back in a decade and we were thrilled to be one of the first events at the brand new waterfront. It was fantastic!
After Duluth, the fleet scattered a bit, visiting the Official Outports of Port Washington and Sturgeon Bay, WI, in Lake Michigan. Our next stop as part of the TSC series is Sail Detroit (first time back in two decades!), followed by Official Outport Alpena, MI, and TSC Host Port, Tall Ships® Midland. The fleet then all gathers for the last event of the summer, Tall Ships® Erie. It already feels too soon!
