US Events
Update from Meyer Conradie, Mosaic CEO & Co-founder |
Friends,
As we reflect on Mosaic U.S. fundraising events in March, I want to thank our US Board members and the many volunteers who made it possible to host gatherings in New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan, alongside supporters like you!
From engaging experiences like Mosaic's virtual reality community tours, silent auctions and 50/50 raffle, to sharing meals and meaningful stories about the work we are privileged to witness at Mosaic, it was an amazing time together! And thanks to your support, we raised over $109,000 to further this mission! 🎉
Whether you attended, donated, or supported Mosaic from afar, your generosity will have a lasting impact. Because of you, we can continue serving families in South Africa, developing children's talents, and shaping their futures.
Because of you, stories of hope and transformation continue to be written every day. Stories like those of Thapelo's, whose life has been forever changed through Mosaic's programs.
In gratitude,
Meyer Conradie | Mosaic CEO & Co-founder |

A Message from Tony Brantzeg
Board President, Mosaic in the US |
In February, my wife, Cammy, and I visited Mosaic to work on strategic focus areas together with the team in South Africa. During our time there, I spent many afternoons at the afterschool program. |
|
One day, I visited a Mosaic afterschool classroom and asked the tutor if I could help. There are groups of eight to ten children in a class and one of the children (I’ll call her Mary) asked for help with her math.
Mary is in 9th grade and attends a large school where the average class size is 40 to 50 students per teacher. Mary has been receiving C’s and D’s in math and was currently struggling with exponents. |
I was able to spend the next hour with Mary, explaining exponents as simply as possible until it clicked. Once it did, we worked on more challenging math problems.
Mary had an exam the following day and I followed up with her when she received her results. Mary told me that she got 65 out of 70 correct which is a high A in their grading system! Then she smiled at me and said, “Actually, I got 65 out of 65 correct. I just ran out of time for the final five.”
This story illustrates the true ability of our Mosaic children and the impact that tutoring support makes in helping them navigate an overcrowded school system.
Mary’s story is still unfolding, and I look forward to seeing more sucessful outcomes like her's. Thank you for making this work possible!
Best regards,
Tony Brantzeg | Board President, Mosaic in the US |
Family Program
Updates from South Africa |
|
At Mosaic, we equip caregivers and children with tools to thrive emotionally, academically, and socially.
Here are our latest Program updates where we've deepened the impact in the lives of families! |
Safe spaces where each child matters | Afterschool Program |
After the summer holidays (which end at the beginning of January) Mosaic afterschool programs welcomed 300+ children back into familiar, structured spaces at the end of each school day. Safe spaces, where our kids are known, cared for, and free to simply be children!
Our community centers in Potchefstroom, Paarl Valley, and Gqeberha came back to life with the sounds of children laughing, learning, and finding their rhythm again after the summer holidays. In these spaces, our children learn that they are seen and valued.
Every ordinary school day, every shared moment, and every act of support helps build stronger families and brighter futures, together. |
|
Afternoons begin with a nourishing meal that help our kids transition from their school day to the program, helping them to focus and participate. For many learners, this routine brings consistency to the day.
Homework time follows, with tutors and facilitators available to offer guidance. Kids work through reading, writing and numeracy tasks in a safe space to ask questions and build confidence alongside their friends. |
Support that sustains a family | Caregiver Program |
Behind every supported child is a caregiver. Caregivers often place their children’s needs above their own. Behind their strength, many quietly carry the daily emotional and practical demands of caring for their families.Wellbi assessments, carried out by our Family Team, recently reviewed data and beneficiary feedback. The team noted a pattern of similar needs amongst caregivers who were weighed down by heavy demands. They needed something to look forward to, something to lift their spirits.
The solution? Celebrating Caregivers on their birthday! After researching local options, Mosaic staff chose to take caregivers on an outing to Cape Town's Aquarium in the month of their birthday. Here, they have their own space for rest, reflection, and emotional renewal to help them return to their families strengthened and encouraged.
During her birthday outing, 89-year-old Ouma Vermina, our oldest grandmother caretaker, amazed everyone! She climbed every step and walked through the entire aquarium on her own. No wheelchair, no fuss! Just wide-eyed wonder and pure joy – a reminder that dignity, joy, and care have no age limit. |
In daily moments, this is where our vision comes to life - to see orphaned and vulnerable children across Africa growing up in loving and caring families, where they are equipped to realise their God-given potential.
From all of us at Mosaic, thank you for believing in this mission and for being part of our global Mosaic family. We are truly honored to partner with you in building brighter futures! |
