Hey Good Grievers!
It's been a while since I've said hello! Have I mentioned how grateful I am for this digital community? It makes my heart stronger knowing you're out there. I've been working extra hard to nourish my nervous system under rough conditions. Here in so-called Michigan, we had a long extreme heatwave with poison air, storms with up to 90 mph winds, & extended power outages during unsafe temperatures. Raging climate effects + GROSS systemic injustices = EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA (both literally and figuratively thanks to poisoned corporate vegetables infiltrating our area).
In a time where it all feels like too much, I come back to what is simple and true:
1) my body exists & can move
2) good bass lines + sassy lyrics make my hips move
3) music is my love language, and it helps us feel connected
4) The English language is violent and limiting, because it stems from a young culture that backASSwordly confuses violence, domination, and spending billions of dollars on surveilling others as a sign of "power"
5) real POWER exists in our hearts and bodies when we connect & move with LOVE
In celebration of these simple truths, check out this sexy, loud, PLAYLIST
I made to get me out of my head & ignite fire in my hips.
You can listen to it on Qobuz, a streaming service that pays artists more fairly, delivers some of the highest-quality streaming, and does not donate hundreds of millions of dollars to war Ai.
I've been so inspired by our programs and author talks right now. Check out new events we have to offer in August (including one for parenting in the polycrisis) plus awesome fall programming (stay tuned for more announcements soon)!
