Fall Style Tip: Slip On a Shacket
Are you familiar with the trend-setting shacket (the stylish offspring of the shirt and jacket)? Versatile and comfortable, shackets are a great piece to include in your fall wardrobe. Wear them with jeans and booties or pair them with a skirt and knee-high boots. It's the perfect piece to throw on during those crisp fall mornings. Some of my favorites are available through Madewell or Walmart.

Client Story: Emergency Help From Wings Following an Emergency Event
Stacy lived in a rented basement apartment when flood waters from Hurricane Ida poured into her home, destroying all her clothing. As a home health aid, she knew her elderly client was counting on her to show up for work the following morning wearing medical scrubs. When Stacy arrived at her client's home the next day in black leggings and a t-shirt, her client was more critical than sympathetic. Despite learning about Stacy's ordeal, the client felt strongly that wearing anything other than medical scrubs to work was unprofessional.
Exhausted from the aftermath of the flood and panicked about needing new clothes immediately, Stacy knew to contact Wings for Success. Wings had equipped her with medical scrubs when she first started her position as a home health aid and she was thrilled we were able to squeeze her in for an emergency appointment. Stacy left not only with the scrubs she needed for work, but also bags of everyday clothing, undergarments, and shoes to help replace the items she lost. You could hear the relief in Stacy's voice as she left Wings that morning, knowing that clothing was one less thing she had to worry about.
Referral Partner Highlight: Camp Dreamcatcher
Wings is grateful for the opportunity we had recently to present to a group of high school students at Camp Dreamcatcher in Oxford, PA. Camp Dreamcatcher provides safe, therapeutic, and educational programs to youth and their families impacted by HIV/AIDS. We engaged in a meaningful presentation with campers about job-related topics, including how to dress for an interview and how to use the STAR method to answer common interview questions. In addition to conducting the workshop, we were also able to provide campers with professional interview outfits and connect them with one-on-one advisors at Wings!
We want to thank our Workshop Committee members, Beverly and Jenny (pictured here), for sharing their expertise as well as members of the community for donating much-needed clothing. There's Still Time to Purchase Tickets for Wings and Wheels
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is right around the corner. Similar to last year, Wings and Wheels will feature both a virtual event (on September 30th) and an in-person event on Friday, October 8th from 5 to 8 PM.
The in-person event will be held outdoors at Vanguard ID Systems, located across the parking lot from the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester. Guests can rock out to The Chatterband, enjoy a buffet dinner provided by Classic Diner, sample beers donated by Locust Lane Brewery, participate in our electronic silent auction/raffle, and have the chance to test drive luxury cars provided by Porsche of the Main Line and RDS Automotive Group.
The first 75 tickets sold will be entered into a drawing for the chance to be chauffeured to and from the event by Porsche of the Main Line!
TICKETS: $75 per person (price increases to $85 per person after September 30th)
If you are unable to attend the event, you can still make a donation to Wings here.
