   ROARING FORK CONSERVANCY
Snowpack & River Report

March Snowpack Reports are supported
by CCY Architects

Summary:

The ‘luck of the Irish’ is with us this St. Patrick’s Day as last night’s snowstorm brought a pot of gold in the form of wet spring snow. Despite warm temperatures and melting snow earlier in the week, snowpack increased in the Roaring Fork Watershed to 114% of normal. Wet snow - versus the dry, powder conditions preferred by skiers - is typical of spring snowfall and needed to provide a significant boost for our water supply. With the first day of spring just three days away and more mild temperatures to come, here is a seasonal reminder for anglers.  March 15th began the seasonal spawning closure on tributaries of the Lower Roaring Fork and Middle Colorado rivers, as administered by Colorado Parks & Wildlife. More details can be found at https://cpw.state.co.us/.
