Presidents Message
What a great start to 2025! We opened our new Intake and Medical building with a ribbon cutting on March 7th and an open house on March 8th. It was a beautiful day for the open house, lots of folks toured both the new intake and our now dedicated adoption center. Pizza was provided by Grimaldi’s Pizza, Park West, a BIG thank you!!!
Our 7th Annual Casino night was held the following Saturday, which is always a fun evening!! Lots of prizes, good food, and music and of course, a gaming table and this year bingo was added, which was a big hit.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors, the volunteers and staff that made all these events successful. And, of course, all who attended. Kitten season has started, we are gearing up for a busy, busy time with our expansion. Our goal is to rescue twice as many cats as before and find them all loving forever homes.

GRAND OPENING / RIBBON CUTTING FOR INTAKE & MEDICAL CENTER
On March 7th and 8th, Sun Cities 4 Paws Cat Rescue had the ribbon cutting and Open House to our new Intake/Medical Center. We had many in attendance to view the new facility and comments all were in awe of what this building will be able to provide with increased intake of cats/kittens, the medical care and enable faster adoptions of the kitties. The Shelter will maintain the medical isolation units, but the adoptions will occur from there. Thanks to Grimaldis for the pizza for the Open House and the staff for other delicious treats.
CASINO NIGHT
We celebrated our 7th Casino Night on the 15th of March. Being St Patrick’s Day weekend, it was aptly named St Catrick’s Day Casino. Fun and great camaraderie was had by all. The introduction of Bingo (sponsored by Furniture Solutions) was a huge hit! The event made over $14,000.00! Thanks to all who donated, sponsored and attended.

We celebrate all adoptions of our cats and kittens, but sometimes, we have those cats or kittens with special stories that need to be shared.
Moonlight was brought to the shelter in November 2014 at approximately 6 months old. She was semi-feral and very shy and preferred to be by herself almost her entire time at Sun Cities 4 Paws. The socializers constantly stay near her and occasionally, she has allowed a couple to pet her on her terms. Moonlight has needed time to trust. On February 22, 2025, an adopter came in and was familiar with ferals and their personalities and needs. She saw Moonlight and adopted her. So, Moonlight, after 10 years in a shelter, has a home to call her own. And she is doing really well and starting to trust the adopter a little more each day. (pictured below)
Hahns is a 16 year old gentle cat (pictured above), who was brought to us in November of 2024. His owners of 16 years were moving abroad and couldn’t take him. He is sweet and laid back and waited for the perfect person to spend the rest of his golden years with. His ‘person’ came in March and knew he was ‘the one’. Hahns is now in a loving home.
Sun Cities 4 Paws Cat Rescue has all types of cats and kittens for adoption. Not all have the perfect personality, but all deserve a home. Come on by the Shelters Adoption Center and see if you can offer a home to one of these kitties.

CAT URINATING OUTSIDE THE BOX
Cat owners often call shelters or vets concerning their cats suddenly urinating outside the cat box when they normally use the litter. These are several possible reasons
The most common reason is a urinary tract infection (UTI). Bacteria in the urine, just as in humans causing straining to urinate, frequent small amounts, and/or blood in urine or droplets on the floor, can all be signs of an UTI. There are other reasons, which is why it is important to get your cat checked out.
The litter box isn’t clean. Scoop the litter at least once daily or multiple times, especially if you have more than 1 cat. Make sure there is enough litter in the box. Or the cat doesn’t like the litter, whether it is the texture or smell.
STRESS. Some cats are very sensitive to their environment and changes to it. Whether it is an existing cat in the household or a new cat trying to get used to its new environment. Any type of sudden change can be stressful.
