The Road to 2028 Starts Now!

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to speak with someone from the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation. They asked if I sensed a buzz of excitement in the air as we get closer to the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics right here in Southern California! My answer was: “Absolutely!”  

Having the Games practically in our own backyard is an incredible opportunity—not just to witness world-class competition but to elevate adaptive sports and celebrate the power of inclusion. The Paralympics will shine a global spotlight on the talent, determination, and resilience of athletes with disabilities, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this movement.

At SoCal Adaptive Sports, we’re proud to already offer Paralympic sports such as boccia, wheelchair basketball, archery, and sled hockey, along with a wide range of other adaptive activities that make sports accessible to everyone. The road to 2028 isn’t just about elite competition—it’s about growing opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to get involved, build confidence, and experience the joy of sports. With the Games on the horizon, we are more committed than ever to expanding programs, strengthening partnerships, and bringing more people into the adaptive sports community.

¡El Camino hacia 2028 Comienza Ahora!

A principios de esta semana, tuve la oportunidad de hablar con alguien de la Fundación Olímpica y Paralímpica de EE. UU. Me preguntaron si sentía una vibra de emoción en el aire a medida que nos acercamos a los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de 2028, ¡aquí mismo en el sur de California! Mi respuesta fue: “¡Absolutamente!”

Tener los Juegos prácticamente en nuestro propio patio trasero es una oportunidad increíble, no solo para presenciar competencias de clase mundial, sino para elevar los deportes adaptados y celebrar el poder de la inclusión. Los Paralímpicos pondrán el foco mundial en el talento, la determinación y la resiliencia de los atletas con discapacidades, ¡y no podríamos estar más emocionados de ser parte de este movimiento!

En SoCal Adaptive Sports, nos sentimos orgullosos de ofrecer ya deportes paralímpicos como boccia, baloncesto en silla de ruedas, tiro con arco y hockey sobre trineo, junto con una amplia gama de otras actividades adaptadas que hacen que los deportes sean accesibles para todos. El camino hacia 2028 no solo se trata de competencia de élite, se trata de crear más oportunidades para que atletas de todas las edades y habilidades se involucren, desarrollen confianza y experimenten la alegría de los deportes. Con los Juegos a la vista, estamos más comprometidos que nunca a expandir programas, fortalecer alianzas y llevar a más personas a la comunidad de deportes adaptados.

We are growing our Inland Regional Center programs, including self-determination, and continue to offer 1:1 and small group coaching and workouts.  If you'd like to take part and/or participate in any of our programs, please have SoCal Adaptive Sports assigned by your Regional Center Community Services Coordinator (CSC). Our Vendor number is PJ5601. We are open to many different modalities for bringing adaptive sports and physical, social, and emotional health to everyBODY!

As an adaptive sports coach, you'll leverage your passion for sports and strong communication skills to create an inclusive environment for athletes with varying abilities. You'll develop tailored training programs, facilitate engaging activities, and foster teamwork and confidence among participants, ensuring everyone feels valued and empowered. Your role will involve actively promoting inclusivity, adapting strategies to meet individual needs, and encouraging personal growth.
