A HUGE Thank You to Boyne Thunder
Boyne Thunder once again created fun, excitement and community impact during its annual powerboat poker run this past July—all while raising funds for local nonprofits.
At the October 2nd Boyne City Main Street meeting, Main Street Director Ingrid Day presented a check for $23,331 to Challenge Mountain representatives Caren Peltier, Carole Melvin and Bill Aten (pictured to the right of Ingrid). Challenge Mountain has been a proud beneficiary of Boyne Thunder for many years.
“Boyne Thunder’s generosity directly supports our adaptive recreational programs—everything from skiing and biking to kayaking, fishing, music classes, equine therapy and the arts,” shares Executive Director Elizabeth Gertz. “We’re incredibly grateful for this continued support.”
Now celebrating its 22nd year, Boyne Thunder combines high-speed excitement with a big heart—supporting local nonprofits, promoting Boyne City and giving spectators an up-close look at impressive powerboats. |

For the third year, the Challenge Mountain Resale Store is spreading smiles with its annual fall pumpkin display — a creative tradition that started as a volunteer appreciation event. This year’s display features 125 hand-painted pumpkins, each with a unique personality and theme, from sports and Halloween fun to this year’s “rock band” twist. Volunteers even built the “world’s smallest suspension bridge.”
The festive display continues to grow in popularity, attracting locals and visitors alike and reminding everyone that creativity builds community.
Proceeds from the Resale Store support Challenge Mountain’s adaptive recreation programs for people of all abilities. Stop by to see the pumpkins evolve — and watch for the Minions’ latest video collaboration from Boyne City High School on Facebook later this month!
