Riding Aware in Bike Infrastructure
The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa area (specifically Dole Street) has recently been reconfigured to be more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly. Where before there were just "sharrows" to indicate a shared space there are now bike lanes! But savvy cyclists always stay vigilant, keeping an eye out for potential hazards & staying clear of the “door zone”. Learn more ❯❯
There’s helpful info printed on your bike tire– how much air you should inflate it with (PSI); the tire’s dimensions, which determines what size tube will fit (example: 27x1.95 = 27” outer diameter of tire, 1.95” wide), and sometimes even rotation arrows to remind you how the tires should be put on (arrows indicate the rolling direction & should be pointing forward on your bike).

Week Without Driving: Sept. 30th - Oct. 5th
Can you make it an entire week without driving? Whether you’re already doing this (heck yeah!) or would like to get there, the end of September is the optimal time to be doing so! Week Without Driving (celebrated Sept. 30th through Oct. 5th) is a 7-day long effort implemented by OahuMPO to reduce solo car trips by choosing to walk/bike/use transit or carpool with friends/‘ohana/colleagues.
This movement is celebrated in cities nationwide to promote sustainable, accessible, and equitable transportation for all. Raise awareness by participating in at least one non-car trip or day– or even better, for the entire week! Learn more ❯❯
