Affiliate Highlight - Scranton Tomorrow Completes 55 Projects During 2025 Scranton City Pride Event

Scranton City Pride dates back to the mid-1990s when Scranton Tomorrow leaders organized a grass roots effort to help beautify the city they loved, the project and impact have grown every year since. Scranton Tomorrow partners with NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania and United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania to host cleanups, beautification, and environmental stewardship projects.

This year, they had 1,786 volunteers who generously gave 2,292 hours of service to the community, spread throughout 55 projects. They are committed to shaping the future of Scranton, so they held 15 educational sessions to equip their volunteers to have the greatest impact. During City Pride, they planted 9,900 flowers just in the downtown area. Plus, they planted a pollinator garden, and for the first time, a sensory garden. The emphasis was on the texture and scent of the plants chosen for those with vision challenges. They experienced record setting rain during City Pride that caused several cancellations, but they still managed to collect 3,000 pounds of litter.
