Dear COL (R) Craig B Hymes: |
The Transportation Museum and the ATMF need your help to fight the closure of our historic museum. After numerous meetings with the ATMF Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, as well as the Museum Director and the Chief of Transportation, we have initiated a mass email/letter writing campaign. Through this campaign, we want various congressional and museum headquarters leadership to know how deeply upset and shocked we are about the decision to close the Transportation Museum.
The ATMF has 5000+ members. It is the intent of our mass email/letter campaign for you to send an email/letter to each individual person on our POC list. We want these people to fully understand that we're a force to be reckoned with and that the Transportation Museum must remain open.
We've already sent an email to the Secretary of the Army with a strongly worded letter signed by the ATMF President and listing all ATMF BOD Committee Chairs. Thanks to the efforts of some of our ATMF members, the letter was hand delivered to the Secretary's inbox.
The mass email/letter campaign works as follows:
- Attached is a template letter for your use. You can change this letter any way you want to make your point. Feel free to add your own sentiment (reasons you connect to the museum, an artifact, conflict, etc.) to it or write a letter of your own. Many of our members have deep emotional attachments to items inside or stories told by the museum. Sharing these vignettes sends a powerful message as to why the museum should remain open and accessible for years to come.
- Please ensure the name of the person you are sending the letter to is written at the top and your signed signature block is at the bottom. Attach this letter to your email.
- Also attached is an information paper. Attach this paper to your email in addition to the letter.
- Attached is a list of congressional and museum headquarters leadership personnel and their email addresses. This is to whom you will send your email.
- In order to make the biggest impact possible, you will see a specific date for your email to be sent next to the name of the individual. You'll see that many individuals will be on the same day.
- Do not send an email to multiple individuals at the same time on the email "TO" line. Only email to one specific individual at a time. We believe this will increase the pressure on them.
- You're welcome to add the ATMF address on the "CC" line if you're so inclined (atmuseumfoundation@gmail.com).
