Looking for something to do this winter? Join OIC for some activities for children and adults! February has an event for everyone.
Woodcarving Clinic
February 9
10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Join the OIC for a morning of woodcarving at the Frick Enviornmental Center! Perfect for new and experienced carvers alike, each participant will receive instruction on proper use and handling of knives, safety precautions, and carving techniques. Additionally, each participant will get a carving knife, a pair of cut resistant gloves, sandpaper, and many pieces of wood for the event. We will have time to create wooden utensils, figurines, or anything else you may have in mind!
In honor of the month of love and connection, join the OIC for a Mindfulness Session in pairs. This space is meant for pairs (couples, family, friends, whoever you’d like to come with) to connect, build trust, and continue growing together. The session will start with guided breathing and light movement designed for groups of two and will be followed by a meditation for pairs.
As winter begins to melt away and Spring approaches, it's an excellent time to get out and go camping! Though it's still brisk outside, the OIC has you covered - we will be hosting a virtual information session to cover all things related to camping in the cold. We will discuss layering, sleep systems, and other gear considerations to ensure that you are comfortable and prepared to tackle camping in any weather. Upon completion of the session, participants will receive suggested packing lists, tips, and recommendations on great local areas to go camping this winter!
This event is free with a suggested donation of $10. Any donations are appreciated.
Join the OIC for a Photography Workshop in Lawrenceville with one of OIC’s photographers, Juan Riaño. The session will start with a one-hour sit-down workshop about various photography techniques. Following this, participants will have one hour to take pictures around Lawrenceville. The final hour will be back at Field Day where the group will review their pictures and have a discussion on editing. Participants should come with their own cameras. If you need help renting one, let us know.
