New Rotating Exhibit:

Postcards, Fans & Fly Swatters...

...and All Things Summer

SFAHS%20Post%20Card.jpg

A new exhibit open Sunday, August 13 in the museum's farmhouse.  Featuring dozens of postcards from our collections, as well as advertising fans, flyswatters and other summer-related artifacts, the exhibit captures a time gone by when folks sat on their porches armed with a fly swatter in one hand in an attempt to keep the bugs away, and fitted with a fan in the other in an attempt to keep the heat at bay.  They were often waiting for the mailman to bring the latest postcard with news of those lucky enough to be traveling.

The exhibit also includes several recently rediscovered WWI postcards sent by area soldiers from the front lines...complete with government censored portions.  The exhibit also includes an 8-page guide for all who visit.

We are still accepting your postcards to help with the farmhouse porch project.  Benefactors will donate $10 for each post card received, so send yours in today!  Deadline is the close of the exhibit on Sept. 27.  Postcards already received are part of the exhibit.  Mail yours to:  SFAHS, PO Box 312, Royersford, PA  19468.

The museum is open Sundays, 1:00-3:00PM; Wednesdays, 11:00AM - 3:00PM; and by special appointment.
