God's Persistent Love

advent%20week4.jpg

In many churches' traditions the fourth candle of Advent represents love, more specifically, God's unfailing and sacrificial love for us. While many of us find hope, peace and joy in knowing God's love, there are many who struggle, particularly this time of year, to feel God's love, to see moments of joy or to feel the hope and peace that come with anticipating and celebrating Christ's birth.

Perhaps you could  benefit from one of the  "Comfort and Joy", "Blue Christmas", or Longest Night services planned by churches throughout the Central District. Here is a list of services that I am aware of.

December 18 and 19:

  • Grace UMC, Franklin, Dec. 18 at 5:30 pm and December 19 at both 9:00 am and 11:00 am services
  • North UMC, Indianapolis, Dec. 19 6:00 pm

Tuesday December 21 Services:

        • Calvary Brownsburg UMC, 6:45 pm
        • Danville UMC, 7:00 pm
        • Mt. Auburn UMC, 7:00 pm, Facebook only
        • Mt. Comfort UMC, Greenfield, 7:00 pm
        • Meridian Street UMC, Indianapolis 5:30 pm
        • Pittsboro UMC, 6:00 pm, Facebook only
        • St. Luke's UMC, Indianapolis, 6:00 pm
        • University Heights, Indianapolis, 6:00 pm

Wednesday, December 22 Service:

  • Christ UMC, Indianapolis, 6:00 pm

If you are struggling this Christmas season, no matter what your circumstances are, it is our prayer that you are somehow reminded of God's persistent love.

Seeking Presenters and Booth Hosts!

Children Matter Most – All In! is an opportunity for all who care about children to come together to learn, be inspired, and go back to their community with action steps to help children thrive.

The INUMC Children Matter Most team is seeking potential presenters as well as ministries and organizations interested in hosting a booth that day.  Folks who are interested in either or both should complete an Interest Form by January 15. Presentations and booths must be geared towards children and youth and  focused on education, non-violence, food insecurity or other topic directly impacting young people.

This all-day event  at Grace UMC in Franklin, IN will include worship, multiple breakout sessions and an opportunity to create action plans for how we will individually and collectively declare we are All In to put children first in 2022.

Learn More and Get Registered Here

Watch for details of breakout sessions as the schedule comes together over the next few weeks.

FOOD RESOURCES

Community Compass

Community Compass is a tool created by Indy Hunger Network and has two key ways to connect individuals with food resources near them. The first is an app for smart phones that automatically provides food resources based on where the individual is. The second is the ability to text for food resources if an individual does not have a smart phone. Check out details of Community Compass. This very valuable tool now works in the donut counties as well as Marion County!

Listing of Central Indiana Food Pantries

We have updated the format of the food pantry list, making it easier to view when printed. You can download the updated listing HERE or from Metro's website's Resources Hub. Please let us know if you have food resources to add or update. We will make updates to this list on a quarterly basis.
