Do you have Jeff's Podium with Sound System?
Jeff Smith is looking for his podium with the built in sound system which used to be in the Democratic Resource Center. Jeff recalls that someone borrowed it for a political event some time back, but the podium didn't make it back to the office. Please bring it to the DRC (440 Broadway) or call 715-852-0330 if you have any clues to where it is.

What is the "Trifecta" you hear candidates talk about?
For the first time since 2010, both Democrats and Republicans have a shot at winning majorities in Wisconsin’s state Assembly and Senate. In addition, winning the Governor race would create the "trifecta". Read more

We are looking ahead to Election Day on November 3, and we need your help to make sure we have as many people on the ground as possible to help ensure a fair, transparent, and well-observed election. We will be holding several training sessions in the next months.

Below are links to learn of the ways you can get involved during the midterm elections:

Currently we have the following yard signs:

Smith for WI Senate
Emerson for WI Assembly
Phelps for WI Assembly
Cooke for US Congress
Crowley/Godlewski for Gov & Lt. Gov signs are expected by the end of August.

Stop the Cruelty/Stand Up, Speak Out, Vote 4 Dems

Fact of the Week: Tom Tiffany voted to overturn President Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania and Arizona and said that he would have voted to overturn Wisconsin’s election results if a vote had been held.

During the drop-off times (1261 East St.), there will be folks onsite to discuss with you any problems or questions you have.

Drop-off times at 1261 East St

·      Tuesday, 8th, 9:00-1:00.

·      Wednesday, 9th, 12:00-5:00.

·      Thursday, 10th , 1:00-6:00.

Guidelines for Pricing Thrift Sale Items

Estimate value of the item. This can be done in a few ways:

· Consider what you paid for it
or

· Go to the google search bar on your phone. You will see a small icon of a camera in the right corner of the search bar. With the item in front of you, click on that camera icon. Your camera will open for you to take a photo, and then google will automatically search for the item and display it (or look alikes). Scroll through the items it finds and see any prices assigned in this search.

THEN, consider condition: New, Like New, Excellent, Good, and lower price accordingly.

THEN, what is 1/3rd of this value, and from that number, lower a little more. We want our shoppers to be happy with their purchases.

This should give you an idea of the current value for a thrift sale item. Typically, bookshelves are about $5.00, desks are around $10.00, chairs are around $5.00. All records, CD’s or DVD’s will be the same and don’t need to be marked individually. Small children’s clothes are typically $.50 or $1.00, depending on quality/logos. Jackets and snowpants, etc. can be around $3.00 or $4.00, depending on quality, condition, etc. Older children tops and pants can be in the $2.00 range.

There are no exact dollar amounts to worry about. And if you want help with this, please give me a call or email. I might be able to come to your house and view items that you are unsure about. Linda at 920-350-5201 or lnorton08@gmail.com.

INFORM YOURSELF AND THE PUBLIC!
Information re: the 3 WI Constitutional Amendments on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Over the next 4 weeks, starting today, local Anna Leffel will provide a series of articles to help people understand these amendments and their impact.  Read Overview Article
  • Vote “no” on the “Prohibit the Closure of Places of Worship During Emergencies Amendment” as it limits the state government’s ability to manage public safety.

  •  Vote “no” on the “Prohibit Government Discrimination or Preferential Treatment Amendment.” Its negative effects would extend to programs intended to address documented inequities such as those in public education and government contracting.

  • Vote “no” on “Prohibit Partial Veto to Increase Tax or Fee Amendment” because the partial veto provides the governor the ability to “check” the legislature’s power to appropriate funds.
