The Honolulu Century Ride is coming up on Sunday, September 27th. Regardless of if you're planning on riding 25, 50, 75, or 100 miles during the HCR, the car-free Kaiwi Coast is the highlight of the first 25 miles. Enjoy the breathtaking views of O‘ahu's south shoreline as you approach the first aid station at Sandy Beach Park.

Head’s up, Hawai‘i! HB2021 is making changes to a multitude of Hawai‘i’s regulations concerning e-bikes, micro-mobility devices, mopeds in bike lanes, and helmet usage. Read the 24-page House Bill 2021 here, or for easier reading check out our post here where we breakdown the key takeaways you need to know.

HBL will be hosting an online webinar on July 14th (Tue) starting at 6:00pm to discuss what changes this new law makes for folks riding in Hawai‘i. Free to the public, RSVP here!

Helmets will now be required for everyone under 18 on a bicycle, e-bike, electric foot scooter, or other electric micro-mobility device in Hawai‘i. Get yourself and your keiki a helmet that fits properly (remember to show your HBL membership card for an HBL Member discount at participating local bike stores!), or score a free helmet at one of the events below where HBL will be fitting & giving out FREE bike helmets*:

》July 18th (Sat) - Cycle the Summer at Sheridan Park, starts at 9:30am [more info here]
》July 26th (Sun) - Waikele Premium Outlets Summer Keiki Event, starts at 11am [volunteer here!]

Introducing Re:Cycle Partnership with Re-use Hawaiʻi

HBL is excited to launch Re:Cycle - a new program designed to give used bikes a second chance - in partnership with Re-use Hawaiʻi! Starting July 11th, you'll be able to donate used bikes to HBL at the Re-use Hawaiʻi warehouse in Salt Lake. We'll also have a pop-up kiosk inside selling used bikes that benefit both HBL and Re-use! Join us on Saturday, July 11th to kick off this partnership as HBL tables from 9am-2pm and hosts a free Fix-a-Flat workshop from 12:30-2pm (registration here). This event coincides with the re-launch of HNL Tool Library, so don't miss out!

Aid Station Teams Needed for 2026 Honolulu Century Ride

Are you part of a group that wants to volunteer at the Honolulu Century Ride on Sunday, September 27th? We need your help at our Aid Stations! As an Aid Station adoption group, your team of 6-8 volunteers will distribute water and snacks to riders at one of our on-course rest areas - we provide all the supplies! By adopting an Aid Station, your team will be listed as a Community Partner in print/digital promotions, interact with over 1,200 riders, and receive free HBL volunteer shirts. Email vincent@HBL.org today to learn about adopting an Aid Station!

Job Opportunities at the Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization
 
OahuMPO is looking to hire one or more transportation and community planners. These planners would manage or assist with multimodal transportation studies, including looking at improving transit in West Oʻahu, bike-ped infrastructure along the southshore, and mobility hub studies across the island, and related community and stakeholder engagement. Registration is now open for Hawaii Cycling Club’s Hilo Hill Climb Time Trial. 2 distinct route distances straight up Saddle Road from Hilo to test your legs, lungs, and overall fitness. Come experience the great scenery and challenging terrain on the Big Island, Saturday, July 18 at 7:30am. Must be HCC member to participate. Info and Registration here.
