Rappahannock Winter Seed Sowing

Join us for a winter seed-sowing workshop in Rappahannock County Park on Saturday, February 1 at 1pm. Our education team will teach you a no-fuss way to sow vegetables and pollinator-friendly native perennials in milk jugs this winter. Explore the park's pollinator gardens to collect seeds and explore their efforts to restore native pollinator habitat. You'll go home with free seeds and new like-minded friends!

Free registration is required, so we know how many people to plan for. Please dress appropriately to be outdoors.

The event will begin and end in the Pavilion. Please contact us with any questions at hello@sustainabilitymatters.earth

LOVE Meadow Seeding Party

Together with NOVA Parks, we are excited to kickstart the Making History Bloom LOVE meadow on the W&OD Trail on Saturday, February 8th. Following our epic invasive removal, now we need your help to seed the site!

We’ll meet at the LOVE sign along the W&OD trail in Vienna at 1:00 pm, followed by social time at the nearby Caboose Brewery afterwards.

Join our joyful seeding party full of dancing, warm drinks (thanks to Vienna Starbucks!), snacks, kids’ activities, free seeds to take home, a raffle, and more. Feel free to come dressed as your favorite pollinator!

Parking is available in a lot between Center Street and the W&OD Trail, and along Center Street. We'll send more details when you register!

Meet Kenny!

If you’ve spent any time scrolling through our social media feeds, chances are you’ve seen Kenny—also known as “that guy in the videos.” As our Social Media Manager, Kenny has spent the last two years creating content that educates, inspires, and—most importantly—makes sustainability feel doable for everyone. From turning takeout containers into greenhouses to comparing plant-based milks for eco-friendliness, his videos show us how small changes can lead to big impacts.

Kenny’s love for the environment has led him to a bit of an untraditional lifestyle—he currently lives in a van with his two cats, spending as much time in nature as possible. When he’s not creating educational content for us, he’s hiking, taking photos, and enjoying the stunning scenery of National Parks and other natural areas.

In the past year alone, Kenny’s posts and videos have allowed us to educate more than 42 million people about the environment and sustainable living! Maybe you were one of the 21 million viewers who learned how to make banana peel fertilizer or part of the 6 million inspired to rethink how to heat their homes with his ceiling fan hack. Social media allows us to meet people where they are, both metaphorically and literally; the average American is on their phone for over four hours a day! And with short-form videos making up more than 80% of web traffic, we’re injecting a bit of good into the social media landscape by inspiring people around the world to adopt sustainable habits.

But here’s the truth: none of this work would be possible without your support. Every share, like, and donation helps us keep creating the fun, educational content you love. So, if you’ve ever liked, laughed, learned, or “saved” one of our posts for later, consider supporting us today with a donation. And if you don’t already follow us, you can catch Kenny’s videos on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Together, we can reach even more people and continue building a movement for a sustainable future—one video (and one banana peel) at a time!
