VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you've been thinking about raising your hand to help out now is the time!
We find this to be very rewarding work, a challenge without being overwhelming. With great people who will inspire and who you can laugh with. Its great to meet new people too.
GIVE IT A TRY!
We have several opportunities and would love to have you join us.
Here are some of the tasks and projects we need help with:
1. Specimen collection for phosphorus studies, delivery of samples to the lab in Lyncourt
2. Volunteer assistant on the harvester- commit to 1/2 day blocks of time
3. Paid harvester driver positions, training provided
4. Paid Harvesting Manager tasks- to potentially include:
- Collecting data from the gps unit on the harvester
- Assigning areas of priority for harvesting with info from others
- Monitoring the harvest debris disposal
- Coordinating and communicating maintenance inspections on the machine
- Provide back up assistance for volunteer position by doing last minute recruiting or riding on the harvester
- Communicating with drivers to ensure scheduled times are filled
- Coordinate with drivers and Board to determine weather conditions and fitness for harvesting
5. HABS Surveillance Monitors: We need volunteers to monitor lake for HABS. Training provided. Contact Mary Desantis for details: mldesanti@yahoo.com
6. Join the Lake Friendly Living programs and initiatives which can include:
- in person events planning and implementation
- research about topics to present to membership
- attend meetings and contribute ideas, help with tasks

7. Grant Writing Contributions
We will be applying for a DEC Planning Grant to do a comprehensive stream corridor study. This work will be computer based From May- August 1.
