Our movement for safer streets for all can sometimes seem unwinable. That’s why it’s important to celebrate every success, no matter how small. This year, the legislature advanced bills that strengthen a framework for safety, affordability, and health. These bills include updates to e-mobility definitions & regulations, a pilot project for summer streets, pedestrian infrastructure improvements, and more. You can find details in our website post: Bicycling Wins At The Capitol.
Bicycling Basics Workshop June 6th
Make it an awesome summer with better biking by coming to a FREE cycling workshop by HBL where you’ll get to know better bike routes, learn about the laws for riding on O‘ahu, what your rights are as a rider (and how to exercise them confidently!), theft prevention, proper bike fit, and more!
Per Hawai‘i regulation, e-bikes are considered “bicycles” and can be ridden anywhere standard bikes are allowed - bicycle facilities such as bike lanes, protected bike lanes, & multi-use paths and on public roadways (excluding freeways) with or without bike infrastructure. As with traditional bikes, if riding on the sidewalk (outside of business districts) speed must be kept under 10 mph & rider must yield to pedestrians. Learn more here❯❯
