The next discussion is set for the evening of October 28th, which will focus on the second section, “Replenish and Re-Green.” Rev. Lauren invites people to bring a stone as a talisman with which to ground ourselves as we dive into some of the challenging work ahead.

Claiming Our Power to Fight for a Clean Energy Future - Green Sanctuary 2030 Community Meeting
October 15, 2025 7pm ET / 4pm PT
Advocating at Public Utility Commissions is an incredibly impactful way to shape our energy future. It's also a hugely overlooked opportunity! Public Utility Commissions (PUCs) regulate utility prices, resource planning and acquisition, reliability and quality of service regulation. If you’re not sure what that all means, you’re not alone! Advocating for fair utility regulations can be intimidating to outsiders, which benefits those who are more concerned with profit than people. PUCs wield significant power and their decisions affect clean energy and air quality, impacting both greenhouse gas mitigation and climate resilience. Learn how the UU Georgia Legislative Action Network is making good trouble for climate justice as they remind the Georgia Utility Commissioners and Elected Officials that people have the power to choose a just and moral path for our energy future.

UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt Signs onto Open Letter
From Pres. Sofía:
"I am proud to join with over 100 faith leaders denouncing political violence and condemning attacks on free speech and the independence of our country's nonprofit organizations. Unitarian Universalist religious tradition upholds values of pluralism and justice and encourages free speech and open discussion from people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
I join with other people of faith and conscience in calling on all political leaders, including the President and his administration, to unequivocally support freedom of speech and religious liberty, and to ensure that the government does not target individuals and nonprofits for exercising that freedom.
We the people are the democracy; it lives in our commitments to one another, and we make this powerful idea real only when we can live our values fully and without fear of violence or retaliation."
Climate Resilience through Disaster Response and Community Care
How can we center the inherent worth and dignity of every person in climate disasters?
Every community is different, and climate impacts will vary at the hyper-local level. Some neighborhoods may be devastated by a hurricane while others experience only minor impacts. Adequate preparation and response for climate disasters must center the lived experiences and impacts of climate disasters on those most at risk. Learn more, download our toolkit, and take action.

Youth Plaintiffs Challenge President Trump’s Fossil Fuel Executive Orders in Historic Federal Hearing
As the Trump administration moves aggressively to unleash more fossil fuels through executive orders that worsen climate change, obstruct the clean energy transition, and suppress the very science needed to protect children and ecosystems on the brink, 22 young Americans have bravely stepped forward. They’re suing the administration to protect their constitutional rights to life and liberty, and stop the executive orders that harm their health and safety.
Nepali villages are swept away by heavy rainfall and landslides, leaving at least 44 dead
Landslides, a lightning strike and floodings triggered by severe rainfall killed at least 44 people in Nepal on Sunday, with five others reported missing, authorities said. Those killed included at least 37 people in the eastern mountain district of Illam, where whole villages were swept away by landslides, Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said. Several other people are still missing.
Warming oceans = more severe rainfall. Unless we stop burning fossil fuels, vulnerable communities across Asia will keep paying a steep price for a crisis they didn't create.
