What began as Negro History Week in 1926 by Carter Godwin Woodson (considered "the father of Black history"), became Black History Month in 1976 through presidential proclamation by President Gerald Ford.
In both the United States and Canada, this month-long observance is an opportunity to delve into Black histories and to celebrate Black achievement, going beyond stories of racism and slavery.
African Americans are a vital part of the tapestry of The United Methodist Church and have played important roles in the development of the denomination in the United States. Indeed there is much overlap in the history of the United Methodist Church and the history of the United States.

The second is the ability to text for food resources if an individual does not have a smart phone. Check out details of Community Compass.
