The 4th Annual Brain Injury Awareness Day at the Pennsylvania State Capitol will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. At the forefront of planning and organizing this event are Kevin McDonald, survivor of brain injury, founder of RESTART, and member of the Pennsylvania Brain Injury Coalition; and Melissa Carmen, survivor of brain injury and member of the Pennsylvania Brain Injury Coalition. They are working with co-chairs of the Brain Injury Caucus to support this event
A full day is planned, with details to follow. Meet at the Main Rotunda in the Capitol Building at 10:15am for the event that will begin promptly at 10:30. Our goal is to have at least 100 people present to represent the brain injury community. Your presence and voice is important!
In addition to the planned activities for the day, we encourage attendees to schedule your own meetings with your legislators in advance of the event. The Coalition will provide some written talking points that you can use when taking with your legislators and you can increase awareness by sharing your story. This is a day of valuable education, resource sharing and building relationships. You don't want to miss out on this amazing opportunity.
If you are attending, please respond to Melissa at: sunshineblu18@aol.com and in the subject line: BIAD to give a count in your party. A flyer will be distribute soon with the full agenda.
