We are pleased to announce WGEP’s expansion to Kenya’s Maasai Mara Region through our newest partnership with Enkishon Sidai Africa! This new partner is a non-profit organization that works closely with the Maasai community in Narok County, Kenya, specifically Narok East and Narok South Constituencies. Enkishon Sidai Africa advocates for children's rights, works toward ending harmful cultural practices such as FGM and early marriage, and promotes girls' education. In this remote and rural region, girls face immense barriers to education, including long travel distances to school, lack of resources, and cultural expectations that prioritize marriage over learning.
Founded by Purity Kurraru, a Maasai woman herself, Enkishon Sidai Africa was born out of her firsthand experience witnessing these challenges and her deep commitment to creating opportunities for girls. Purity is a leader and inspiration for girls in her community.
In the pilot year of our partnership, WGEP is funding scholarships for 36 girls and hygiene kits for 54 girls, helping remove key barriers to their education. We look forward to growing this partnership and supporting more girls on their educational journey!
