Stuff the Bus Program Seeks Community Support to Provide Kids with School Supplies

Stuff%20the%20Bus.jpg

Our Stuff the Bus program is gearing up to help Sun Prairie families who are unable to cover the cost of supplies for the upcoming school year. The program is asking for the community's help to reach its $20,000 fundraising goal to provide backpacks and school supplies to 1,600 children.

Many in our community are struggling to make ends meet, and the extra expense of school supplies can be a hardship. Every child deserves to start the school year with the basic necessities. A donation of $20 will provide one child with a backpack and supplies. Please consider helping one or more children with a donation to the Stuff the Bus program today. Any donation, big or small, will help us meet our goal.

Make a financial gift online through the Stuff the Bus fundraiser on Facebook or via our website. Checks can be mailed to Sunshine Place, P.O. Box 307, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 or dropped off at Sunshine Place or the Bank of Sun Prairie. Checks should note "Stuff the Bus" in the memo line.

The Stuff the Bus program is led by a group of community volunteers, and Founding sponsors include the Bank of Sun Prairie and Larry Smokey Anderson - American Family Insurance Agent.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors - Community Shout Outs

Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who donated and volunteered to support Sunshine Place this past month. The impact of our programs are only possible through your support. Below are just a few highlights of your recent kindness:

Thank you to all who donated to our Period Products Drive. 23,505 individual products and $7,155 were donated to help fight period poverty in our community. And thank you to volunteers who recently assembled packs of products for Sun Prairie middle and high schools. Each pack contained supplies to cover roughly 3 menstrual cycles for any student who may have difficulty accessing products over the summer.

Thank you to all the groups and individuals who held drives and donated items to the Sun Prairie Food Pantry. Pictured here is a member of the Sun Prairie Piranhas who held a food drive in conjunction with their first swim meet of 2023. Donations like these help keep our pantry stocked with a variety of food and personal care items for clients.

We are grateful for the community's continued support of Sunshine Supper! The Sun Prairie Masonic Lodge #143 recently dropped off a generous donation, and several groups provided volunteers and food to serve the community. Groups included Bristol Lutheran Church, Rooted Right Ministries, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Central Heights Middle School, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
