E-bike or E-moto?
Bikes can make wonderful gifts for kids (and adults!) and bring much joy & fun. But as a reminder, unless your bicycle has wheels smaller than 20”, it should be treated as a vehicle and not a toy. Playing carelessly in traffic or zooming past pedestrians without warning is not only a sure way to get on the naughty list, but potentially seriously hurt. Check out HBL’s short videos where you can learn important info on e-bike laws and cycling tips to keep you having fun and staying safe!
Hawai‘i law requires anyone on a bike under the age of 16 to wear a properly fastened helmet when riding. In August 2024, Honolulu County law was updated to require e-bike operators under the age of 18 to don a brain protector as well. Who else wears a helmet? Adults with common sense and parents leading by good example!
