Saving Texas Dance Halls, one two-step at a time!

Preservation Grants: From the Panhandle to the Hill Country!

Texas dance halls aren't just buildings; they are the heart of our communities. To ensure these floorboards keep swinging, Texas Dance Hall Preservation (TDHP) is officially opening our 2026 Spring Grant Round!

Last fall, we awarded a record-breaking $50,000 to six historic halls, proving that preservation is happening in every corner of the state. Whether it’s Western Cowpunchers Association up in Amarillo, Pioneer Hall in Anson, or La Plataforma Jiménez in Melvin, we are dedicated to helping hall owners keep their doors open.

The Details

We are offering matching grants of up to $10,000 to help you tackle essential repairs or building assessments.

  • The Funds: $50,000 total is available this round.

  • The Projects: We fund everything from roof repairs and stage leveling to historically appropriate window replacements and HVAC upgrades.

  • The Match: This is a $1-to-$1 matching grant. Projects of all sizes—large or small—are encouraged to apply!

  • Eligibility: Must be a TDHP member. Your hall must have a dedicated dance floor and stage and a history of hosting community dances.

Why Apply?

A small grant can be the spark that ignites a local fundraising campaign. Just look at Pioneer Hall, which is using their funds to replace leaky, non-historic 1970s windows with more effective, historically accurate versions, or La Plataforma Jiménez, which is restoring their historic concession stand.

Important Dates

  • Deadline: June 15, 2026

  • Questions? We want to hear from you! Reach out early to discuss your project ideas. 512-400-4315.

Support the Spirit of Texas

While we are proud to award these grants, for every hall we fund, many more are still waiting for help. Texas Dance Hall Preservation is a non-profit fueled entirely by people like you—those who believe these historic landmarks are worth saving. Your donations go directly toward technical consulting, advocacy, and the matching funds that allow halls to tackle "make-or-break" repairs. When you give to TDHP, you aren’t just preserving rafters and floorboards; you’re ensuring these halls remain active for Saturday night dances, community picnics, and local gatherings for generations to come.
