Spring is officially in the air! As the daffodils bloom (and the pollen counts climb), we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible team that keeps our parks running.
From the volunteers working behind the scenes on fundraising, accounting, and event planning to our dedicated park managers who serve as our eyes and ears on the ground—you are the heartbeat of this organization. Simply put, DOGPAW wouldn't exist without the 15+ tireless individuals who keep the gates swinging open for those wagging tails.
Dive into the updates below to see our upcoming events and learn how you can help us keep our parks thriving!
Our first workday of the year is just around the corner! Join us on Saturday, April 11th at 9:00 AM as we focus our efforts on Kane Memorial Dog Park in Hockinson Community Park.Because Kane is our smallest location, we want to ensure it receives the attention it needs to stay safe and beautiful for the community.
Planned Projects:
Landscaping: Trimming fence lines, pruning trees, and clearing vines/bushes.
Maintenance: Filling holes with dirt/gravel and clearing pet waste.
Construction: Full replacement of the kiosk roof.
Requested Equipment: If possible, please bring gloves and eye protection. We also encourage volunteers to bring their own shovels, wheelbarrows, pruning tools, weed whackers, and chainsaws to ensure we have enough equipment for everyone.
Thank you for helping us keep our parks clean, safe, and beautiful!
Email us at: volunteer@dogpawoffleashparks.orgto let us know you are coming. You can also just show up the day of - all help is appreciated!
The Trail Blazers (and Mud-Busters)
Fast Eddie Trail: A Tale of Two Eddies at Ike Memorial Dog Park It turns out, if your name is Eddie, you're officially a hero. This winter, we completed the nicknamed Fast Eddie Trail thanks to some incredible generosity. Eddie Dorr, our legendary volunteer of 20+ years at Ike, donated the lion’s share of the gravel, with another Eddie stepping up to finish it off.
A massive shout-out to our VP & Park Ops extraordinaire, Mark, who essentially turned his personal truck and dump trailer into a one-man construction fleet. Between hauling yards of gravel and using his 4x4 to battle the "potholes" at Ike, he’s been a busy man!
The Great Mulch-Off at Lucky Dog Park
Meanwhile, over at Lucky Dog, things were getting a bit... squishy. Thanks to a 20-yard mulch donation from Clark County Parks, a squad of soggy-but-determined volunteers (and their four-legged supervisors) braved the cold and rain to cover the slip-and-slide mud trails.
Our "Big Dream" for Lucky? A sleek, ADA-accessible compact gravel trail like our other parks. It’s a $25,000+ mountain to climb, but hey—every great park starts with a goal (and a lot of muddy paws)!
A huge High Paw to the Parks Foundation of Clark County!
We are thrilled to announce that DogPaw has been awarded a $2,500 grant to support our mission. Since 1999, the Parks Foundation has served as a vital pillar for our local trails and recreational programs, proving that it truly takes an army of volunteers, donors, and non-profits to enhance our outdoor spaces. We are honored to partner with such a dedicated organization to keep Clark County’s parks thriving for our four-legged friends and the community at large.
Our Brand-New Merchandise Store!
We are excited to share a new way to fundraise for our beloved dog parks! Our new online store offers stylish apparel and accessories, allowing you to show off your DogPaw pride while supporting a great cause.
Here's how it works:
You get choices: Select your style, color, and size.
We get support: DogPaw receives an average of 35% of each sale to help maintain and enhance our parks!
This store will constantly be evolving, with new designs added over time.
