As we spiral through the seasons into Autumn, the nights are growing longer, and harvest is upon us. This time of ripening is evident at UUMFE, with many program offerings fruiting and ready to take part in. Whether you join our weekly Climate Grief Support Group, our monthly Community Read or Full Moon Gatherings, or our seasonal spiritual gatherings, I hope you will "pick" and enjoy whatever fruits from the UUMFE garden that seem most tasty!
Our Climate Grief Support Group meets every Friday from 1-2pm ET/10-11am PT, and is deeply connected to the heart of what we do. If you are experiencing any form of climate anger, anxiety, grief, or despair, this group provides a space to process with others in a trauma-informed and mindful way. Register here.
October Full Moon Gathering
Join UUMFE Executive Director, Reverend Lauren Levwood, and UUMFE Resident Musician, Li Kynvi, for a gathering in celebration of the Hunter’s Moon. Reverend Joel Tishken, Board member of UU Animal Ministry and Minister of the UU Church of Muncie, will join us as a special guest for this month’s Hunter’s Moon, which will honor the Goddess Diana.
Last night, we gathered on Zoom to begin our 2026-27 Community Read: Radically Reframing Climate Change: A Guide to Saving Ourselves by Will Hackman.
In our first meeting, we began with an intention-setting and community-building workshop. We set the stage to dive deep and bring the book to life, which means cultivating community connections and preparing for sustained, visionary, embodied action. Our next meeting is Monday, October 26.
Jessica Diaz is an ecologist and environmental justice advocate whose work is rooted in her experience growing up in east Houston, Texas as a daughter of Mexican immigrants. The dual experience of living with the petrochemical industry looming in the background and her cultural connection to the earth drives her commitment to improving air, water, and environmental quality for all communities and our non-human relatives. ICYMI: New Board Member Spotlight
In case you missed it, we recently shared a board member spotlight on social media featuring Rev. Doug McCusker.
We asked Doug a few questions about his inspiration, UUMFE programs and offerings, and what climate justice means to him.
The UU Animal Ministry's annual Celebration and Blessing of the Animals is coming up on Sunday, October 4 at 4pm ET/1pm PT. This year is extra exciting, as UUAM celebrates its 40th anniversary.
