Are You Ready for BOOOts & Bowties

October, 28th 2023

Boots & Bowties isn't any ordinary gala & fundraiser. We here at the Mount St. Helens Institute prefer a dress code we like to call "mountain casual." It's a combination of your finest attire and your favorite outdoor gear. It's high society in hiking boots. Gowns and gaiters, high heels and headlamps, cummerbunds and crampons... actually don't wear the crampons. They tear up the floor. You get the idea, so save the date for an unforgettable evening where you'll schmooze with other movers and shakers, bid on auction items, enjoy cocktails and support science education and our public lands.

Journeys and Junctions: My First Year at the Mount St. Helens Institute's

By Cyndi O'Brien

IMG-2259.jpg

It has been a wild year for the Mount St Helens Institute’s Science and Learning Center at Coldwater. We have weathered a very snowy start to our spring outdoor education season, been at the epicenter of the rescue operations for the landslide that closed the Johnston Ridge Observatory, and opened the Science and Learning Center to the public so we can help support our partners with the Forest Service and Discover Your Northwest. Sharing the center has created new opportunities for the costs of much-needed maintenance of the Science and Learning Center to be shared and strengthened our connections to partners that we do not get to see so often.
