Church & Community Outreach Survey
How does your church engage with your community? Are there outreach efforts you would like to see happen but can't get past some obstacle? What needs in your community would you hope to address?
We would love to hear your responses to these questions, to consider how Metro Ministries might be able to assist with your community outreach efforts. We would also like to hear about the work that you are currently doing, so that we may share your successes with others.
Please take a few minutes to complete thisbrief survey. Please share the survey link with others in your church, so that we have a full picture of your church's current work and aspirations. The survey will close on February 1, 2023.
We will then evaluate the feedback received and report back through the newsletter and/or to churches directrly, as appropriate. Note that the survey does require church name, but individual's name and contact information are optional. Thanks in advance for your input!
This coming Monday, we will honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Schools and local, state and federal government offices will be closed, as will many other places of employment. I wonder how we might look at Monday as more than just a day off.
Did you know that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is the only federal holiday designated for community service? I wonder if we might honor his legacy by serving on this day and/or in the days surrounding the holiday. To quote Dr. King, "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is 'what are you doing for others?'”.
In addition to considering what you might do for others, there are many ways to celebrate the holiday. Several facilities offer free admission for learning and entertaining opportunities. Here are many of them, with links for more information.
Madam Walker Legacy Center featuring social justice leader Tamika D. Mallory. Tickets are free, but registration is required.
Indiana Historical Societyfree admission for a time ofstorytelling, participating in a service activity, and enjoying music and beats of Keisha Ballinger and the University UMC Praise Team!
