The Kraken Unity Fund was created by the Seattle Kraken, One Roof Foundation, and Starbucks with funding from our ownership group, led by David Bonderman and Samantha Holloway. The purpose of the Fund is to honor inspiring individuals who are doing outstanding work to transform lives, enable resiliency, and uplift and unite our community across the Pacific Northwest.

A Kraken Unity Fund Honoree will be recognized at each of the Seattle Kraken regular season home games during the 2022/23 season. The individual honoree will select a nonprofit to receive a donation of $32,000.
Nominations open on May 24 and must be received by August 1 to be considered for the first round of selection. Selection of these winners will take place prior to the start of the 22/23 Kraken season in October.

Nominations will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis through January 2023. https://onerooffoundation.org/get-involved/kraken-unity-fund/

Hello from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT)! We hope to hear from the youth you serve about how we can improve Seattle’s transportation system.

We would like to invite Seattle youth from Coalition member organizations to talk with SDOT to help shape the Seattle Transportation Plan (STP). Your organization will be compensated for your time.

The STP will guide transportation investments for the next 20 years, and we are developing the STP with the community. We are elevating input from those who typically do not have their voices heard in government planning, including youth, to shape this plan.

Details:

  • Would a small group of youth in your organization like to share their thoughts about transportation with us? If so, we are asking if your organization can set aside a time and place for us to hold a 30-60 minute conversation with this group to hear their thoughts. We will come to you at the time and place that is best for you.
  • Youth will be provided snacks/beverages, and other items like bike helmets and/or lights. Your organization will be compensated with a $200 gift card as a thank you for your time and collaboration.
  • During these conversations, we will ask youth about how they get around the city now, and how they hope to in the future. We’ll also ask about transportation challenges and what parts of our transportation system are most important to them. We will take notes and provide a short answer sheet for participants to write down their ideas, but this is not a formal survey, nor will we audio-record the conversation. All feedback will remain anonymous.

If youth you serve are interested in talking to us about Seattle transportation, please reach out to Cha Cha at playkc@uw.edu and/or Katie Olsen at katie.olsen@seattle.gov. (Some of you may remember Katie from early Coalition years).

Come on out on August 20th and join The Shoreline Sports Foundation at our second 5k fun run! We’re pumped to bring together athletes of all sports for fun and friendly competition. All proceeds from this run will benefit Shoreline Sports Foundation and help us reach our goal of developing youth leaders in our community.
