AMP/TJR Youth Apprenticeship Program seeking companies to host apprentices! The Apprenticeship Maryland Program/Tech Jobs Rule (AMP/TJR) and the Dr. James A. Forrest Career & Technology Center (FCTC) welcome local companies to participate in the Youth Apprenticeship Program. We want to increase the number of apprentices and business partners for the 2024-25 school year. SMCPS Forrest Tech Center will be working this spring to place students in apprenticeship positions that begin between June and September 2024. Calvert and Charles Counties are also in discussion for 2024-2025. This is a learning tool, so that students experience a "real" job interview with people from the industry and community. A firm commitment is needed from interviewers by March 18th, 2024, to meet the scheduling process. Saturday, 18 May 2024 NAWCAD and The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) are pleased to announce the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - Inspiring the Next Generation (STEM-ING 2024) event for our eleventh year. The event will be at the SMCM. The one-day STEM-ING event is designed for middle school girls in the tri-county region to gain confidence in STEM and learn about STEM fields and associated careers. 100 young women will hear from Wonder Women, positive role models in the STEM industry and academia, and will have an opportunity to select from up to 10 fun, interactive, and challenging STEM related workshops.  If you are interested in volunteering, please register via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2024-stem-ing-volunteer-registration-tickets-795469539807 . High School volunteers must register with Facilities, Events, or as a Workshop Assistant. The Maryland Technology Internship Program (MTIP) helps Maryland retain top tech talent by increasing the number of paid technical internships offered in Maryland. CSM Alum Destiny Morgan Establishes ‘Kuinua Together’ Scholarship to Uplift Future Tech Leaders - Over the past five years, the Foundation has awarded an average of over 600 scholarships a year for a total of more than $4 million. The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) announces open season for Scholarship Applications for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Applications are being accepted now through April 15th via email, NDTAHQ@ndtahq.com. NDTA wants to provide scholarships to students pursuing an education in logistics, transportation, or passenger travel. The goal is to foster the growth and development of logistics and transportation professionals. They provide students with scholarships, and with the opportunity to join the Industry Connect Program (ICP). 2024 Naval Horizons is now live! Naval Horizons is a student essay contest introducing students to cutting-edge STEM topics impacting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps through an engaging video series. The STEM topics in the video series include space weather, aerospace optometry, epidemiology, machine learning and more! growingSTEMS – is offering the following Summer Camps:

  • June 8-9thJuly 27-28thAugust 24-25th, and September 7-8th 2024 -Combat Robotics summer camp focused around Termite Class Combat Robots! Competitors in grades 3-5th are able to participate in this 2-day camp. Each camp will run on Saturday and Sunday, 10-3pm each day. There will be 12 slots per camp and each camp will be limited to 3 of each robot design.
