2022 Conference

On June 26, 2022, the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania welcomed persons with brain injuries, their families, care partners, friends, and clinicians to our annual conference at the Lancaster Convention Center. The theme this year was Celebrating Connections and Collaboration in Brain Injury Rehabilitation, and it was the first time we were able to gather in person since 2019!  For three days, 274 attendees listened and learned together, sharing ideas and knowledge about living life after brain injury.  There were more than 30 exhibitors from across the state who partnered with BIAPA to bring information about programs that assist persons with brain injury in attaining their goals of treatment, independence, and community building. Through the generosity of fund-raising efforts over the past two years and additional funding provided by the Council on Brain Injury (CoBI), BIAPA was able to award 93 scholarships for people with brain injury and caregivers to attend the conference free of charge.

Follow us on social media for posts from the conference and video clips of attendees talking about their experience. Click on the links to Facebook, instagram and LinkedIn below to find us.

We were thrilled to be together again and will start planning our 2023 conference in the upcoming weeks!

Caregiver Survey

BIAPA is interested in enhancing our services for caregivers.  It would help us if caregivers could take a few minutes to respond to a questionnaire on this topic.

We're planning to follow-up to schedule a focus group of caregivers to discuss how we can increase our attention to caregiver needs.  The voice of caregivers is important to us in fulfilling our mission!

There are two ways to respond.

1.  You can get to the survey by clicking on this link:  Caregiver Survey

OR

2.  You can get to the survey using this QR code.

Either will work.  We hope to hear from you!

NeuroResource Facilitation (NRFP)

BIAPA is pleased to have the opportunity to implement this initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Health which offers

NRFP helps individuals 18 and older with traumatic brain injuries and their family members identify and navigate brain injury resources, services, and supports at no cost to the individual or family.

NeuroResource Facilitators can:

  • Provide information about local resources, services, and supports;
  • Assist individuals and their families with navigating and pursuing appropriate services and supports;
  • Help to create a plan and provide ongoing support;
  • Partner with individuals and their families to help ensure that they can continue to access resources, services, and supports after completing the program.

To obtain more information regarding NeuroResource Facilitation, or make a referral, please contact the Department of Health at 717-772-2763 during regular business hours, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. E.S.T. You may also call the toll-free Brain Injury Helpline at 866-412-4755 to be connected to the Program Administrator.

The BIAPA online support group will meet on Thursday, July 21st at 5:00 PM. We'll have a low-key meeting planned for this month to kick off the summer!  Come to talk with others and share experiences and ideas. Please email survivorsupport@biapa.org if you would like to be included on the distribution list to receive an invitation and link to the Zoom meeting.

A full list of all of Pennsylvania's support groups, with contact information for each, is on the BIAPA website's Support Group Listing Page. We are in the process of updating the information, and while we have done so for most groups, there are still some that we're trying to reach. If you are aware of groups that are meeting either virtually or in-person and are not on our listing, or if you have any updated details about a group on the list, please contact Melanie Morrison morrison@biapa.org so we can let others know about them.
