Tis' The Season for Giving!
On MACSC 3rd day of giving lets #raiseawareness
#ittakesacommunity to break to cycle of abuse
|
On a typical day, there are more than 20,000 phone calls placed to Domestic Violence Hotline nationwide. But right here in our community, we have seen a 400% increase in the Domestic Violence Hotline calls, more than doubling pre-pandemic numbers. Victims live in constant fear for their safety and well-being! MACSC plays a crucial role in recognizing and addressing the needs of domestic violence victims in our community.

"I was drowning in silence, but the support, compassion and understanding from MACSC was roadmap to reclaim my life." - Chloe
Chloe came to MACSC seeking assistance with general information about banking. It was soon uncovered that she was living in an abusive environment. Every aspect of her life was controlled. What she ate, where she went, what she did and there would be consequences for disobeying. She wasn’t allowed to have friends and could not contact family. She had no access to money, even her own. Chloe knew what was happening was not right but was fearful to do something about it. In meeting with advocates, she began to obtain resources and was given helpful information as to her options. Advocates were able to help client work with local law enforcement to obtain a stay-away order of protection. DVAP advocates assisted Chloe in finding an emergency safe shelter and were also able to help her secure a permanent apartment. Chloe also utilized our food pantry and other services, on a regular basis. Chloe has been able to go back to school and was connected with assistance programs to help get her on her feet. Chloe has gained her independence and is now looking forward to her future.
The Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, Inc, (MACSC), recognizes the importance of fostering an environment where survivors feel heard, validated, and empowered to break free from the cycle of abuse. With YOUR help, we can continue to be a beacon of hope for clients like Chole and empower them to reclaim their lives. |
