It’s one thing to hear your friends singing the praises of a plant-based diet, but when it comes from our doctors, nurses, and the medical folks we trust, you know something is up!
We’re jazzed that our partners at Brooklyn’s SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University are putting on their second conference on plant-based health and nutrition next Friday, led by an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, public health researchers, and administrators. Catch the conference in-person or online, or – better yet – recruit the healthcare professionals in your life to attend and hear from their colleagues about why plant-based nutrition matters.
Keynote speaker and cardiologist, Columbus Batiste, MD, will be visiting from California, and Plant Powered Metro New York will lead a break-out session on transitioning your family and your patients to plant-based eating. This is a great conference for newcomers as well as people in healthcare.
Our community field trip to Ethos Farm is around the corner! Spend your Saturday learning about regenerative organic agriculture and the power of two microbiomes: the microorganisms in our soil and in our gut. We’ll hear how the biodiversity of these tiny ecosystems is deeply connected to the health of our planet and human health with Nora Pugliese, Ethos Farm Manager; Ron Weiss, MD, founder of the Ethos Farm Project; and Gladis Zinati, PhD, from the Rodale Institute. Our day also includes shopping at the Doctor’s Farmer’s Market, a bring-your-own picnic, a culinary demo, and farm-fresh refreshments.
Need a ride to the farm? Seats are still available on a PPMNY chartered bus that departs from Manhattan at 10:00 AM.
