Our first-ever Seasonal Ritual Gathering was a heartfelt and meaningful experience. With nearly 30 participants from across the country, we lit candles together, explored personal symbols of spring, and reflected on the season’s themes of renewal, emergence, and hope. We shared poetry, stories, and collective wisdom in a space of care, connection, and intention.
Thank you to everyone who joined us – and for those who missed it, the recording and a feedback form were sent by email to all registrants. Stay tuned! We’ll be announcing the dates for our summer, fall, and winter gatherings very soon.
Let’s keep planting seeds of meaning and community together. 🌿

Here’s What You Missed at the last Members Connect!
At our latest Members Connect gathering, we welcomed new faces, swapped stories about how folks found their way to Humanism, and had a thoughtful (and occasionally hilarious) discussion about what makes someone a “good” Humanist. We also got real about website feedback, volunteer burnout, and why $50 can go a long way in building a movement powered by values, not profits.
💡 What’s next? Upcoming gatherings may explore questions like:
What’s the role of ceremony and ritual in Humanism?
How do we welcome more diverse voices into the community?
Why did YOU become a Humanist?
Curious? Come join the conversation. It’s casual, member-led, and a great way to connect across time zones and perspectives.
Access the meeting link via your member portal – we hope to see you there!
All members are welcome!
Tomorrow: Humanist Canada Book Club: Special Author Event with Nate Hendley
The Humanist Canada Book Club is pleased to welcome acclaimed author Nate Hendley for a special discussion on his latest book, Atrocity on the Atlantic: Attack on a Canadian Hospital Ship During the Great War. This compelling historical account details a shocking war crime—the attack on a Canadian hospital ship by one of the Kaiser's U-boats (or submarines).
Date: April 1, 2025 Location: Online (via the Humanist Canada Member Portal)
Nate Hendley is a respected author, best known for his work in true crime, and a member of Crime Writers of Canada. Atrocity on the Atlantic brings his sharp investigative lens to history, shedding light on an often-overlooked chapter of wartime atrocities.
All Humanist Canada members are encouraged to read the book and join the discussion. This is a unique opportunity to engage directly with the author and explore the ethical, historical, and humanist implications of war crimes and justice.

We love seeing grassroots events that bring together secular thinkers, and the Western Canadian Reason Conference 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting one! Hosted by Rocky Mountain Atheists, this gathering of freethinkers, skeptics, and humanists will take place May 2nd to 4th, 2025, at the Sandman Hotel in downtown Calgary.
With speakers like Seth Andrews, Forrest Valkai, Dr. Eugenie Scott, Susan Gerbic, and Dr. Rodney Schmaltz, the event promises engaging discussions on reason, science, and critical thinking. If you're interested in connecting with others who share secular values, this could be a great opportunity!
