Humanist Resistance in Action:

On November 3rd, we gathered with friends and fellow humanists to welcome Gary McLelland, Chief Executive of Humanists International, to discuss the role of humanist resistance in defending human rights and democracy across the world.

Gary shared powerful insights on how humanists around the world are standing up for freedom, equality, and reason, highlighted new initiatives in Berlin, and spoke about exciting plans for the 2026 World Humanist Congress, coming to Ottawa next August.

Exciting news about the World Humanist Congress 2026 is coming soon—stay tuned!

Support Humanist Canada:

Everything Humanist Canada does—from national conversations on ethics and science to local gatherings and online learning—is powered entirely by our dedicated community.

So far, we’ve raised $5,000 toward our $20,000 goal. It’s a strong start, but to sustain and grow our work, we need your support.

Why Your Contribution Matters:
  • Hosting conversations that cut through misinformation and promote critical thinking
  • Advocating for evidence-based policies that protect equality and human rights
  • Amplifying Humanist voices to champion reason, compassion, and justice

Humanism in action means standing up for science and justice when they are most under threat. But without adequate resources, we won’t be able to reach more people or hold more important conversations.

How You Can Help:
  • Donate today to strengthen Humanist education, advocacy, and community across Canada
  • Share your “Why Humanism Now” story to inspire others

Together, we can keep Humanism strong, connected, and ready for what comes next.

Share your “Why Humanism Now” story to inspire others.

๐Ÿ“† Next Reading on December 2nd: “One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This” by Omar El-Akkad

Omar El-Akkad's book explores the experiences of being brown, black, or part of any racialized group in the West amid the collapse of the old world order and the erosion of Western cultural values. Since the “War on Terror” post-9/11 and more markedly after October 7th, racialized communities have faced vilification, stereotyping, suspicion, and dehumanization. El-Akkad’s work offers a social justice and Humanist perspective, prompting reflection on how Humanism can restore faith in dignity, democracy, and human rights

This event is open to Humanist Canada members only. For more information, contact
