Please Take Action to Oppose the Prohibition of Funding for Parental Choice in Education!

Please contact your Texas House representative and ask them to OPPOSE Rep. Herrero's amendment to the House budget, HB 1, that would prohibit funding for parental choice in education.

Attempting to prohibit funding in the budget seeks to eliminate prudent debate regarding the best way to educate all Texas students. Several parental choice bills before the House and parents deserve the opportunity for hearings on the policy, rather than budget amendment gimmicks to reduce their voice.

As the primary educators of their children, parents have a right to determine the best educational environment for their children. The bishops support parental choice programs, especially for the economically disadvantaged and special needs students, to increase access to educational options for all students.
