Less Than a Month to Ramble!

Bring friends and family to explore Washington Parish's historic gems on Saturday March 12, 2022! This Ramble will include a mix of sites connected to local lumber history, Civil Rights leaders, 20th Century music history and much more. 

Tickets are $50/person, $15 for students and teachers.  LTHP members receive an automatic discount when registering online in the membership portal.  Registration closes Monday March 7, 2022.

2022 Most Endangered Places and Award Nominations Due 3/6/22

It's time to submit your nominations for 2022's Most Endangered Places and Louisiana Preservation Awards! If there is a site in your community that needs a little attention or is threatened to be lost, complete the nomination form here.  If there is a great success story or a preservation advocate in your region that deserves recognition, nominate them for a one of eleven categoriesNominations for both programs are due by Sunday March 6, 2022.

Conference Highlights LA's Twin Cities 

The 41st Annual Louisiana Preservation Conference will take place on Thursday April 21st and Friday April 22nd in Monroe and West Monroe.  This conference will include 9 break-out sessions, 2 local tours, and other educational and networking activities.  Registration and student scholarship applications are now open!

We are excited to announce this year's Keynote Speaker & Topic, Poverty Point: Louisiana's UNESCO World Heritage Site, presented by Diana Greenlee.  The Keynote Luncheon will take place on Friday April 22 starting at 11:45 AM.

New this year is a free seminar, open to the public: Building a More Inclusive Historic Preservation Movement presented by Joy and Jo Banner of The Descendants Project.  This will take place on Thursday April 21 from 1-3 PM.   

Early-bird registration closes Monday March 21 and final registration closes Sunday April 17, 2022.

Better Boards Training Workshop Rescheduled for May 20-21

Do you volunteer or work with a preservation organization in your community? a historical society or museum? Main Street group? or other non-profit?  Learn how to build and improve your organization's capacity and activities by attending this upcoming Better Boards Training Workshop in Baton Rouge on May 20-21. LTHP active members receive 10% discount on registration.

The 1.5 day Better Boards Training Workshop will be lead by Esther Hall and  will show how historic preservation boards and other non-profit organizations how to strengthen their skills and strategies among board members.  This event will be held at Red Stick Social's 4th Floor Hall in Baton Rouge. 

Registration is $75/person and includes Friday lunch and refreshments.  It is recommended that at least 3 members from your organization (staff and/or board members) attend for effective change and impact. Seating is limited so register your team today!
